On Saturday, 29 September, officers from the Bodden Town Community Policing Department joined with the community of Bright Court in Bodden Town to formally launch a Neighborhood Watch program as part of the RCIPS’ crime prevention strategy. The ceremony was attended by area representative, MLA Dwayne Seymour, who spoke to the residents on forging a close partnership with the RCIPS and Community Policing Department. PS Pompey, who heads the Bodden Town unit, also addressed the audience. Beat officers for the area, PC Artwell and AC Rickets, along with AC Pascal and AC Thomas were on hand to witness the short ceremony.
PC Artwell pointed out the importance of forming a watch in the community, saying, “It is worth it to come together as a community. The benefits are a reduction in crime, a better quality of life, and building community unity.”
This recent launch brings the total number of Neighborhood watches launched in the Bodden Town district to 13.
