After receiving a number of reports and complaints from the public regarding ferocious dogs in the North West Point Road area of West Bay, the community officers of the area planned an operation along with officers from the DOA to solve this issue.
On Thursday 14 February just before 7:30 AM both the Community Officers and DOA officers attended the area and spoke with several dog owners and provided them with educational pamphlets and advise on the proper care and legal requirement of dog owners.
During the walk through of the North West Point area, a dog was observed roaming the streets without supervision and the animal was collected by the DOA officers. The owner of the dog was identified and spoken to about the dog and after being informed of their responsibility as dog owners, voluntarily surrendered their dog to the care of the DOA.
The both the community officers and the DOA officers intend to follow up with this neighbourhoods to ensure that dog owners are adhering to the rules and information that was provided to them.
