Snorkeling related death – George Town
 About 10.00am on Thursday, 16 May, a 63-year-old cruise ship passenger was snorkeling off Eden Rock with friends when he got into difficult. The man, who was from the US, was brought to shore by his friends. CPR was administered by EMS and he was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The matter is under investigation by the Joint Marine Unit. Published 17th May 2013, 5:08pm

GT Cop talks safety with Montessori students
 Last Friday George Town NPD cop Emrol Smith spent some quality time with students of Montessori School. The 15 students listened intently as PC Smith explained the need to stay safe at home, at school and on the roads. George Town Police Station (GTPS) is centrally located in the capital of the Cayman Islands, and can be found on Elgin Avenue next to the Government Administrative Building.

GTPS’s geographic area is surrounded by the northern border of Government House on the West Bay Road and the western border of Spotts Newlands on Shamrock Road.

George Town is the largest policing area (by population and diversity) and is the busiest in terms of calls for services.

George Town is home to the financial district, the Legislative Assembly, the Law Courts, Customs and Immigration services as well as most other Government offices.

It also includes the Owen Roberts International Airport and Sea Port facilities that bring tens of thousands of visitors to Grand Cayman every week of the year.
