Crime Stoppers is an independent and international crime fighting charity with chapters in many English-speaking countries. Its objective is to provide the public with a purely anonymous channel with which to convey information to the police about crimes, with cash incentives to do so. Crime Stoppers Cayman works closely with the RCIPS, though it is entirely independent of the police, with a volunteer and civilian board. Tips and information passed along to Crime Stoppers Cayman go directly to the Crime Stoppers information centre in Miami, not the RCIPS, and are assigned a number, and then transmitted back to police. Neither Crime Stoppers nor the RCIPS ever learns the identity of the person who sent the information, or the “tipster.” More information can be found on the Crime Stoppers Cayman site.
