The twenty-four new local recruits who make up the second RCIPS Recruit Class of 2019 are now six weeks into their initial recruit training. The new recruits were sworn in on Monday, 3 June, in a ceremony led by members of the RCIPS Senior Command Team.

Police Officer Arrested in Connection with 2016 Commercial Burglary, 11 July

Today, Thursday, 11 July, detectives with the Serious Crime Review Team of the RCIPS arrested a man, age 46 of George Town, in connection with the burglary of a bank, that occurred in June 2016. The man is a police officer with the RCIPS, and has been suspended from duty.  He is currently on Police bail.

Single Vehicle Collision on Owen Roberts Drive, Man Arrested for DUI and Other Offenses, 8 July

Shortly after 10:00PM on Friday, 5 July, officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Owen Roberts Drive which caused damage to a building on the airport site. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and various other offenses and is now on police bail.

RCIPS AOU Conducts 6 Emergency Medical Evacuations in 2 Weeks, Hosts joint Training with HSA, 5 July

During the last two weeks of June, the RCIPS Air Operations Unit conducted a total of six medical evacuations to Grand Cayman from the Sister Islands using the police helicopter. This week, as part of the ongoing relationship between the RCIPS and the Health Services Authority, the AOU hosted a training session for EMS staff.

UPDATE: Additional Charges in Joint RCIPS CBC Operation, 2 July

As a result of a joint RCIPS and CBC investigation, a small private plane along with a large quantity of cash has been seized in Cayman, and four foreign nationals arrested. Two of those arrested have been formally charged with Smuggling, while the other two have been charged with Possession of Criminal Property.
