Commissioner of Police Derek Byrne can now read direct accounts of the actions of RCIPS officers, in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in the British Virgin Islands in 2017. He was presented with a copy of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force book, Irma, a RVIPF Perspective.

Robbery on Rock Hole Road, 14 October

Officers responded to a report of a robbery which occurred shortly after 12:00AM on Sunday, 13 October, on Rock Hole Road, George Town, where a man was struck with an object and robbed of his wallet and mobile phone.

RCIPS Issue Safety Advisory as a result of Spike in DUI Offenses, 10 October

Since July 2019 police officers have made just over 70 citations for persons driving under the influence of alcohol, with the most recent figures showing that in the month of September alone, 27 citations were made for the offense.

Man Found Unresponsive in George Town, 8 October

8th October, 2019

Shortly after 4:30PM on 7 October, officers responded to a report of a man found unresponsive on Beckz Close in George Town. Emergency Services attended the location and the man was pronounced dead on the scene. Formal identification of the deceased man has not yet been established. The matter is currently under investigation.

Second RCIPS 2019 Recruit Class Graduates from Training to Operational Duty, 7 October

The RCIPS’ newest group of officers officially graduated from training to operational duty on Thursday, 26 September. The new constables are embarking on a tutored phase of on-the-job training with an experienced officer, during which they will be assessed for their suitability for independent patrolling.

In order to facilitate a candlelight vigil this evening, 7 October, Boilers Road will be closed to through traffic from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. Boilers Road will be closed at South Church Street, however local access will be permitted via Walkers Road.

Wounding in George Town, 2 October

2nd October, 2019

Shortly before 11:00PM on Tuesday, 1 October, officers responded to a report that a woman was assaulted by a man known to her and received knife wounds to the head. The incident took place at a parking lot of a business on Shedden Road, and is under police investigation.
