UPDATE: Men Charged Following Drug Interdiction, 14 March

Update:

The two men who were arrested on Monday, 11 March, after their vessel was intercepted by the Cayman Islands Coast Guard, have been formally charged with Importation of Ganja.

 

The men, Jamaican nationals ages 38 and 59, appeared in court today, 14 March.  The men have been remanded until they are next scheduled to appear in court, on the 28 March.

Intial Release: 12 March

At about 10:00PM yesterday, 11 March, while on patrol, a team of officers from the Cayman Islands Coast Guard intercepted a grey and blue coloured vessel with two persons onboard, engaging in what appeared to be criminal activity. 

 

Both occupants were arrested on suspicion of committing the following offenses: 

 

Importation of Ganja, 

Importation of Exotic Birds 


They have since been handed over to the RCIPS for further investigation.
