Children Must Wear Seatbelts and Use Booster/Child Seats, 29 August

29th August, 2019 Police Headlines

It is well into the first week of the new school year and the Traffic and Roads Policing along with the Community Policing Department have been out in numbers during the peak hours of the morning to ensure that road safety is maintained, especially in the school zones across the islands.

Our officers have noticed that there have been a large number of children travelling in vehicles, who have not been wearing their seatbelts. Not only is this a violation of the Traffic Laws and Regulations, but it is a danger to your child life in the event that your vehicle is involved in a collision.

Please ensure that your children are wearing their seatbelts, in the front or rear of the vehicle at all time when the vehicle is being driven, and that appropriate child or booster seats are used if your child is within a certain age/height/weight category that requires one.

If you are stopped and your children are not wearing their seatbelts, you may receive a ticket valued at CI $200.
