Last Friday, 26 April, Commissioner of Police Derek Byrne received the 2018 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director's International Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. The award recognizes oustanding leadership, excellence, commitment to the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity and civic and social responsibility. Commissioner Byrne's contributions to the success of collaborative regional enforcement operations with ICE were among the achievements mentioned in his nomination and selection for the award.
Commissioner Byrne attended a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Kingston where Eric Kant, the Charge d'Affaires, and Dextan Dixon, the Country Attache, presented him with the award. Commissioner Byrne accepted the award on behalf of his colleagues here at the RCIPS and also at the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control, who are critical partners in all international operations and collaborations with the U.S. government toward the shared objective of strengthening regional security.
