Update (Charges):

The 39-year-old-man of George Town who was arrested on Tuesday 3 August (see details below), has now been charged by the police with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition).

He is expected to appear in court today.

Initial Release:

Just after midday yesterday, 3 August, officers of the RCIPS carried out a search at an address in the Tropical Gardens area of George Town. During the search, the officers recovered a loaded black handgun along with several rounds of ammunition.

A 39-year-old-man of George Town was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and taken into custody where he currently remains. The matter is being investigated by the police.
