Just after 4:45 AM on Saturday, 15 November, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a burglary in progress at a commercial property on South Church Street in George Town.

When the officers arrived at the location, they found a masked man inside the property, and when approached by the police, he fled the location on foot. Following a short foot chase, the man, age 34, of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The man remains in custody pending further investigation.

Police are currently investigating whether there is a possible connection between last night’s incident and the increase in burglaries in the George Town district.
