The officers attempted to stop and search the suspicious man who ran from the location after being engaged by the police. A quantity of ganja was recovered by the police in the area where the man was seated.
The man ran into a residential address in the area he was seen and was followed by the police, where he was then apprehended and detained for the purpose of a search. During the search a firearm was recovered in the bag that was being worn by the man.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ganja, and possession of ganja with intent to supply. A quantity of cash was recovered as proceeds of crime.
He was first transported to the George Town Hospital for treatment of an injury sustained prior to being engaged by the police. After being discharged, he was taken into custody where he currently remains pending further investigation.
