The conviction stems from an incident on 11 October, 2024 when police responded to a report that a woman had been physically and sexually assaulted by a man not previously known to her, at an address in George Town. The man was arrested later that night, and, following a swift investigation, was formally charged with Rape on 13 Oct, 2024.
He made an initial appearance in court on 14 Oct, 2024, and following trial, was convicted on Friday, 26 June, 2026.
He remains in custody pending a sentencing hearing in October, 2026.
