Marked Police Vehicle Involved in a Two Vehicle Collision in George Town, 18 May

Shortly before midnight on Sunday,17 May, a marked police vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle collision with a civilian vehicle near the intersection of Shedden Road and North Sound Road.

 

Traffic and Roads Policing Units were dispatched to the location by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre where they observed that the police vehicle sustained damage to its right rear side and the civilian vehicle sustained front-end damage.

 

It was reported that both vehicles were travelling southbound towards the intersection when the marked police vehicle that was responding to a call for service and had its emergency lights and siren activated had a collision with a civilian vehicle.

 

During the collision, the civilian vehicle collided with the rear right side of the police vehicle.

 

Both the police driver and the civilian driver were breath tested, and both results proved negative.

 

A passenger who was travelling in the civilian vehicle reported a head injury and was assessed by EMT, following which they declined further medical attention.

 

The collision is being investigated by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit and the Ombudsman has been notified of the incident.
