1st May, 2020 Police Headlines

Just after 11:30AM on Tuesday 28 April, officers from the Department of Environment were on patrol in the Collier’s Beach area of East End when they came across a torn duffle bag containing taped packages.

Police attended the location and took possession of twenty (20) parcels believed to contain cocaine, weighing just over 52lbs. (Photographs below).  The parcels are believed to carry a value of approximately $350,000.00 CI.

An extensive search of the affected shoreline was carried out by land-based officers, the police helicopter, and Cayman Islands Coast Guard, to ensure that no other packages had come ashore.  No other items were found during the search.

Subsequently, the contents of the packages were destroyed at the landfill with the assistance of the Department of Environmental Health.
