Shortly after 2:00AM on Saturday 18 May, officers located the vehicle on Halpine Road, George Town. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a firearm and ammunition in an extended magazine.
A 24-year-old male of George Town, was arrested and detained for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition.
The vehicle, firearm and ammunition were seized for forensic analysis.
Subsequently, around 10:00PM, Saturday 18 May, a search was conducted at a residential address in George Town, and a second man, a 39-year-old of George Town, was arrested by police for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition and has been detained at the detention center.
