Police Encourage Safe Driving Following Collisions in Cayman Brac, 16 April

The police are observing a concerning number of incidents of speeding and other traffic offences along major roadways in the Sister Islands, particularly in Cayman Brac.

 

On Wednesday,15 April, police responded to two separate motor vehicle collisions which resulted in significant damage to all vehicles involved. In the first collision, a Honda Fit and Honda Logo were travelling in opposite directions along Cotton Tree Bay Road, in the vicinity of Polack Drive, and collided when the Fit was turning onto Polack Drive. The drivers of both vehicles received minor injuries, and were treated on the scene.

 

In the second collision, a Honda SUV and Toyota Corolla collided when the Honda was exiting from a parking lot onto West End Road East. The passengers of the Toyota received minor injuries, were transported to Faith Hospital for treatment, and subsequently released.

 

Both incidents remain under investigation.

 

The police are reminding all motorists to follow the Traffic Act, and avoid speeding and other dangerous driving behaviours, including distracted driving.

Drivers who are observed using the road in a manner that endangers themselves or others will be stopped and prosecuted.

 

Officers have responded to the increase in speeding offences in the Sister Islands with targeted road safety enforcement initiatives across both islands, aimed at encouraging safer and lawful use of the road by all road users.
