Police Encourage Safety During the Holiday Weekend, 30 June

30th June, 2023 Police Headlines

As the long weekend approaches, the RCIPS is reminding the public to be safe while out and about. Participants in the CayMAS Carnival are encouraged to plan ahead and consider personal safety and road safety while participating in the various events.

Specifically, the RCIPS are reminding the public to be vigilant, especially with their drinks and to decide to get home safely. Officers will be assigned to the CayMAS Parade on Saturday 1 July and there will also be officers carrying out business as usual. Operation Borage is still on-going in the Eastern Districts, last weekend, there were just under 200 tickets issued across the islands with more than 40 being issued in the eastern districts.

“We want to ensure that safety is considered at all times no matter the circumstances, and so we are constantly finding new ways to spread these messages,” says Superintendent Roje Williams, “In addition to individuals not drinking and driving, we want to encourage that passengers do not drive with persons who have been drinking and that they discourage this poor driving habit by employing a different solution, whether that be, planning ahead and designating a driver, or calling a taxi if the unexpected has occurred. Let us all do our part to guarantee everyone gets home safely this holiday weekend.”
