UPDATE: Police Identify Victim in Frank Sound Fatal Collision, 30 March

UPDATE (30 March):

Police can now confirm the identity of the deceased in the fatal collision which took place on Tuesday, 28 March, on Frank Sound Road. He is 23-year-old Daniel Ernest McFarlane, of East End.

 

The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

 

The incident remains under investigation and officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254 or the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.

UPDATE (29 March):

Police have now arrested the driver of a white Chevrolet Blazer which was involved in a fatal collision last night, 28 March, at about 9:30PM on Frank Sound Road, and who subsequently left the scene of the collision.

 

The man, age 47 of North Side, has been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and Causing Death by Careless Driving, he remains in custody as investigations continue.

 

The second cyclist, who was injured in the collision and transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, has since been discharged.

29 March

Police are currently on the scene of a fatal collision which occurred at about 9:30PM last night, 28 March, on Frank Sound Road in the vicinity of Botanic Road, involving a Chevrolet Blazer and two cyclists. The Chevrolet collided with two cyclists, continued driving and left the location. Both of the cyclists were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, one of the cyclists has been pronounced dead, while the other remains in critical condition.

 

Officers are currently processing the scene, and traffic diversions are in place in the area. Two lanes have been created to allow the flow of traffic. Members of the public are advised to exercise caution in the area, and expect potential delays.
