UPDATE: Woman Charged with Murder, 21 September 

The woman, age 31 of East End, who was arrested in relation to a stabbing incident reported on Friday, 18 September, has been formally charged.

The woman has been charged with Murder and Possession of an Offensive Weapon.

The deceased has been positively identified as 26-year-old Caymanian man Tyron Burrell who resided in George Town.

The RCIPS extends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased man.

The woman will appear before the court today, 21 September.

Initial: Police Investigate Murder Incident in Prospect, George Town, 19 September

Just after 9:30PM, on Friday 18 September, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 911 Communications Centre to a report of a stabbing incident that took place along Prospect Drive, George Town.

It was reported that a man and a woman was engaged in an argument, when the woman allegedly stabbed the man using a knife.

Persons at the location attempted life saving measures until the arrival of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who continued these efforts. The man was subsequently transported to the Anthony S. Eden Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

A 31-year-old woman of East End was arrested by the police at the scene of the incident. She is currently in custody pending further investigations.

This incident is being investigated by the police and a Major Incident Room has now been activated. Anyone with information is being encouraged to call the Major Incident Room at 649-2930.
