Update: George Town Man Charged with Robbery, 17 September

Following his arrest on Tuesday, 14 September in relation to the below incident, a 22-year-old-man of George Town has now been charged with Robbery. He will be appearing in court today 17 September.

 

The investigation is still on-going and detectives are seeking assistance from the public to locate the second man who was involved in the robbery. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Initial Release (15 September): 

Just before 3:40PM yesterday, 14 September, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a robbery that took place at a business located on Eastern Avenue.

 

It was reported that two masked men entered the establishment and one of the men brandished a machete and demanded money. A quantity of cash was taken by the men and they made off from the location in a white sedan motor vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.

 

One of the men was described as wearing a white t-shirt, long jeans and mask on his face, the second man was wearing a white t-shirt, dark coloured shorts, a hat and had a camouflage scarf covering his face.

 

Shortly after the incident a 22-year-old-man of George Town was arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to the incident. He is currently in custody pending further investigation.

 

The incident is being investigated by the police and detectives are asking anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via our website.
