UPDATE (19 March):
On Friday, 14 March, officers arrested a man, age 33 of George Town, in relation to a robbery which took place on the evening of Tuesday, 4 March, at a convenience store on Mary Street, George Town. At the time of his arrest he was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.
He has since been formally charged with Robbery, Causing Fear or Provocation of Violence, Carrying a Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Utensil Used in the Consumption of a Controlled Drug, Consumption of Cocaine and Consumption of Ganja.
He appeared in court on Monday, 17 March, and was granted bail with conditions, pending a further appearance on 4 April.
Initial Release (5 March):
Shortly before 7:00PM yesterday, 4 March, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Mary Street, George Town. It was reported that a masked man entered the business, brandished a machete, and demanded cash from the store attendant at the location. He then fled the location on foot with a quantity of cash from the register, along with other items. No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as being tall, of medium build and dark complexion. He was wearing a hat and face covering, and light-coloured clothing.
The matter is currently under investigation by George Town CID. Anyone with information is asked to contact 949-4222.
