Just before 9:15PM, on Saturday 20 January, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to South Church Street in the vicinity of Harbour View, where it was reported that a robbery had occurred.
It was said that a vehicle forced a woman riding a bicycle off the roadway causing her to fall, at which time the driver of the vehicle exited with a knife and stole the woman’s bag, containing a quantity of cash and other personal items. The perpetrator then returned to his vehicle and made off in the direction of South Sound.
Officers attended the location and the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) were called to assess the victim who appeared to have minor injuries.
Yesterday morning, 21 January, one male was arrested on suspicion of committing this offence and others. He remains in custody as the investigation progresses.
