Shortly before 10:00PM on Tuesday, 5 June, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a bar on Shedden Road near Main Street. It was reported that a masked man carrying a machete ran through the outdoor area of the bar causing several patrons seated there to flee as the man approached. The man then made off with personal items which the patrons had left behind.
Whilst on scene officers received a report from another robbery victim of an incident that had occurred nearby, just before the initial report. It was reported that a masked man, carrying a machete, had approached another man and demanded cash. The masked man had then made off on foot with a quantity of cash.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
The incidents are linked, and the suspect in both is described as being about 5’8” in height, and of medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white and black shoes and a black mask.
The matter is currently under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
