At approximately 12:10 AM, a Chery Himla truck was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway after passing the Lighthouse and collided with a utility pole.
Emergency services, including the Cayman Islands Fire Service and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the scene. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
The driver sustained serious injuries, including to the leg and head, and remains in hospital in stable condition.
The matter is under investigation by the RCIPS Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
