Police Investigate Two Incidents of Suspected Arson of Vehicles, 23 September

Shortly after 8:15AM yesterday, 22 September, officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire at an address on Linwood Street in George Town. Officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service arrived at the location and were able to extinguish the fire. No one was injured, and no other property was damaged in the incident.

 

Officers conducted inquiries and determined that the vehicle, a Honda CR-V, had previously been reported stolen.

 

Shortly after 1:00AM today, 23 September, officers responded to a report of a fire at an address on Parkview Crescent in West Bay, where it was reported that two jet skis were on fire. The owner was able to extinguish the fire prior to the arrival of Fire officers. Other jet skis at the location received minor damage, however no one was injured during the incident.

 

Fire officers have determined that both fires appear to have been deliberately set. As such, both matters are being investigated by police.
