Police Investigate Water-Related Death, 13 February

Shortly before 2:50PM on Tuesday, 11 February, the 9-1-1 Communications Service received a report of a person in distress on a marine vessel which was on route to the shore at the South Terminal in George Town. It was reported that a woman on the vessel had been out snorkeling when she encountered difficulties and was assisted back aboard. The crew administered oxygen to the woman, who lost consciousness as she was being taken back to shore.

 

EMS met the vessel on shore and administered CPR to the woman, who was transported by ambulance to the Cayman Islands Hospital. She was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

 

The woman, age 73, is a visitor from the United States. The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
