Update: Man Charged for Firearm Offences Following Vehicle Search in George Town, 7 March

UPDATE (7 March):

The 30-year-old man who was arrested following the recovery of a firearm from his vehicle on 1 March has now been charged by the police with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, and two counts of Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition).

 

He appeared in court on Tuesday, March 4, and was remanded. He is scheduled to return to court on March 11, 2025.

 

The second man arrested in connection with this incident, a 34-year-old from West Bay, was subsequently bailed pending further investigation.

 


Initial Release (1 March)

Just after 2:45 AM on Saturday, 1 March, officers on patrol in the George Town area conducted checks at a local bar on Eastern Avenue. During the operation, officers searched two vehicles parked outside the establishment, leading to the discovery of an illegal firearm and drugs.

 

During the search of the first vehicle, officers recovered a loaded handgun. In the second vehicle, a quantity of suspected cocaine and ganja was also found.

 

As a result of the recovery, two men, ages 34 and 30, both from George Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm. Additionally, a 51-year-old woman from West Bay was arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of cocaine and ganja.

 

All three individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue.
