UPDATE: Man Arrested in Relation to Fort Street Robbery, 24 December

UPDATE (24 December):

On Tuesday, 23 December, officers arrested a 23-year-old male resident of North Side, on suspicion of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm. This arrest is in relation to the robbery of a jewellery store on Fort Street, on Saturday, 13 December.

 

The RICPS thanks the public for their support as we continue to target and prosecute the perpetrators of crime, as part of our mission to keep the Cayman Islands safe.

 


Initial Release (13 December):

Just after 12:40PM today, 13 December, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a jewellery store on Fort Street. It was reported that two masked men, one carrying a gun, entered the store, smashed glass display cases and made off with a quantity of jewellery. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.

 

Police responded immediately and conducted enquiries, which led to the recovery of a vehicle and other items nearby.

 

The matter is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.

The RCIPS is aware of concerns regarding recent robbery incidents, and are conducting proactive operations to disrupt this activity and apprehend those responsible. One such operation was conducted last night in the Bodden Town area, in pursuit of a suspect. These operations will continue in the coming days, alongside Operation Winter Guardian.
