Robbery Suspect due in Court this Morning, 22 July
The 19-year-old man of George Town arrested on Saturday, 20 July following a robbery of a cell phone on the premises of a hotel on West Bay Road has been charged with one count of Robbery and will be in court this morning, 22 July.
The man was arrested after a quickly coordinated police response following a dispatch from the 9-1-1 Communications Centre just before 5:30AM. An off duty police officer in the vicinity immediately responded to the area and saw a man in a vehicle answering the description of the culprit speeding on Eastern Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle and provided commentary to other responding officers from uniform, Firearms Response and K-9 Units, who ultimately apprehended the man on Eastern Avenue.
The victim did not require medical treatment following the incident and was not taken to hospital.
Early on the morning of Saturday, 20 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a robbery in the vicinity of Margaritaville Resort on West Bay Road, where a man had been robbed of his cell phone.
Officers responded immediately, arrested a man, age 19, and recovered the stolen cell phone.
The man has been formally charged with robbery and is appearing in court on Monday morning, 22 July.
