For a better experience on RCIPS, UPDATE YOUR BROWSER. On Tuesday, 6 October, at approximately 12:20PM, police officers and other emergency services responded to a report of a woman experiencing difficulties while swimming in the water, near North Church Street in George Town.
The woman, who was visiting the island on a cruise ship, was assisted from the water by members of the public and brought ashore by a vessel while CPR was administered.
She was transported to hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The deceased is a 65-year-old visitor from the United States of America.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
