For a better experience on RCIPS, UPDATE YOUR BROWSER. On Tuesday, 22 July, 2025, RCIPS officers on mobile patrol observed a vehicle suspected to be committing traffic offenses. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, during which several irregularities with registration and insurance documents were revealed. Based on the information at the time, officers conducted enquiries, which further revealed that the vehicle was driving without insurance, with expired registration, and without a valid certificate of roadworthiness. In addition, documents later produced to the police appeared to have been altered, which led to further enquiries with a local insurance company.
The driver was arrested and an investigation conducted which resulted in a file being submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Following this, the driver, who is an Auxiliary Constable with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, has been charged with the following offenses:
• Making or Adapting and Article for Use in Fraud
• Uttering a False Document
• Driving without Insurance
• Using a Vehicle with Expired Registration
• Using a Vehicle on a Road without a Valid Certificate of Roadworthiness
The officer has been suspended from duty, and has been bailed to appear in court on Tuesday, 11 November.
