The RCIPS would like to inform the public that, during a search on the evening of Thursday, 27 September, an accidental discharge of a police firearm occurred. No member of the public was present when this occurred, and no one was harmed. The bullet struck a police vehicle. The Ombudsman’s office has been informed of this incident, which is currently being investigated internally, with all post-incident protocols being followed.
