On Thursday 4 August, the RCIPS received a report of a large blue bag found in the bushes, in the vicinity of a new development on Farm Road, East End.
The RCIPS K9 Unit was dispatched and a search conducted of the area, which resulted in the recovery of a number of bags containing kite boarding equipment.
Initial inspection of the recovered items indicated a probable match with equipment reported stolen from a trailer belonging to a kite boarding business located at Barkers Beach, West Bay, on 20 June 2022.
The next day, Friday 5 August, the business owner and his colleague confirmed that the recovered items matched the inventory of equipment reported stolen, and most items, with the exception of one kite board and about six helmets were returned to the business.
Police encourage anyone that has any information on the whereabouts of the outstanding stolen equipment, to please contact the Bodden Town Police Station on 947-2220.

On Monday 20th June, around midday, police received a report of the theft of kite boarding equipment to a value exceeding $20,000 CI, from a secured metal trailer located in an open lot at Barkers Beach, West Bay.
The owner of the business from which the equipment was stolen, reported that he had secured the trailer door with two padlocks, at around midday Sunday 19th June. When he returned to the trailer at around 11:30AM Monday, 20th June, he discovered the pad locks had been damaged and access gained to the trailer where over twenty kites and ten kite boards were stolen.
The stolen equipment has distinctive markings, and images of a selection of the items has been provided to aid with identification.
Police are currently investigating this incident and are appealing to anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the equipment to call the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999.
The RCIPS remind the public to be vigilant when purchasing second hand goods. If offered kite boarding equipment (or any second hand goods) under questionable circumstances, please contact the RCIPS to check the origins to avoid potentially purchasing stolen goods.
