Road Closures and Traffic Advisory for Cayman Islands Marathon, 30 November - 1 December

The 2024 Cayman Islands Marathon takes place this Sunday, 1 December, from 4:30AM to 12:00PM. The following road closures will be in place between 30 November and 1 December, in order to facilitate the event:

 

9:00PM Saturday, 30 November, until 12:30PM Sunday, 1 December:

1. Seafarers Way will be closed between Fort Street and Cardinall Avenue (local access will be permitted).

2. The junction of Seafarers Way and Goring Avenue will be closed.

3. The junction of Shedden Road and Elgin Avenue (in the vicinity of RBC) will be closed to all traffic

4. Warwick Drive will be closed to all traffic.

5. The junction of South Church Street and Broilers Road will be closed to northbound traffic (local access will be permitted).

6. A section of Walkers Road will be closed between Goring Avenue and Hospital Road.

 

10:00AM to 11:00AM Sunday, 1 December:

6. Shedden Road, between Elgin Avenue and Seafarers Way, will be temporarily closed to facilitate the annual children’s race from the Government Administration Building to Warwick Drive.

 

The route for the Cayman Islands Marathon begins on Seafarers Way and participants travel south to South Sound Road, east onto Shamrock Road, and onto Prospect Point Road, before turning back and travelling west along Shamrock Road and South Sound Road, north onto Walkers Road, through Hinds Way and Academy Way, back onto Walkers Road, and return to Seafarers Way via Hospital Road, Elgin Avenue, Edward Street and Fort Street. A map of the route is attached.

 

We ask that motorists travelling in these areas on Sunday be mindful of the safety of participants and volunteers, drive slowly, and follow the instructions of the marshals and police officers who will be on hand to direct local traffic along the route.
