Sister Islands Police Conduct Road Safety Operation Following Community Concerns, 11 June

11th June, 2026 Police Headlines

In response to concerns raised by residents during recent community meetings held by the Commissioner of Police, Sister Islands officers have been conducting targeted traffic enforcement initiatives to improve road safety across Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Since 1 June, officers have increased patrols in specific areas of concern on the islands, especially in and around school zones. During this period, police have issued a total of 15 traffic tickets; 6 tickets were issued for speeding offences and 9 tickets were issued for other traffic offences including failing to wear a seatbelt, illegal window tint, and operating an unlicensed vehicle on a public roadway.

In addition, one man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and another man was arrested for driving without a valid driver's licence. A third man was issued a warning of intended prosecution for a traffic-related offence.

"We remain committed to listening to the concerns of the public and taking appropriate action to address them," said District Commander for the Sister Islands, Inspector Laing-Hall.

"These traffic enforcement checks will continue until further notice as we work to improve road safety across our communities."

Motorists across all three Islands are reminded to drive with due care and attention, obey speed limits, and exercise caution in and around school zones.

The RCIPS will continue to conduct road safety initiatives across the Cayman Islands as part of its commitment to making the Cayman Islands safer.
