Police are investigating the cause of the collision that resulted in the death of two individuals, that occurred on Shamrock Road, around 2:15AM, Monday 1 July.
Initial findings indicate that the incident occurred when a silver BMW travelling west on Shamrock Road veered into the opposite (eastbound) lane, then collided with a utility pole and a concrete wall before coming to a stop.
The Fire Service extricated two persons from the vehicle, who were then attended to by paramedics at the scene. The man and woman were transported to George Town Hospital by ambulance where they were pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.
The roadway in both directions was closed with diversions put in place while police carried out their investigations. The roadway was reopened at 8:00AM, the same morning.
