At about 4:40PM on Sunday, 3 March, Cayman Islands Coast Guard officers responded to a report of a person in distress at the Stingray City Sandbar. It was reported that a man had been in the water when he experienced difficulties and became unresponsive. CPR was performed by persons at the location until Coast Guard officers arrived on scene. The man was transported back to shore by the Coast Guard vessel as CPR was continued by the officers onboard, and then to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
The man, age 51, is a resident of the Cayman Islands.
