Update: Second Arrest Made in Relation to Shedden Road / Canal Point Rd Shooting Incidents, 18 November

UPDATE (18 November)

On Wednesday 17 November, a George Town man, age 20, was arrested by the police on suspicion of possession of unlicensed firearm in relation to the below shooting incidents that took place on 11 October. This is the second arrest that has been made in relation to these incidents, as a West Bay man was previously arrested and charged in relation to these incidents. (see details below)

The George Town man was later bailed and the investigations  are on-going.  Detectives continue to encourage anyone with information to call the Major Incident Room at 649-2930. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the RCIPS website, or by using the mobile app.



Original report (15 October):

A 29-year-old-man of West Bay has been charged with two counts of Possession of an Imitation Firearm with Intent to Commit an Offence, contrary to the Firearms Act (2008 Revision). The charges relate to the Shedden Road and Canal Point Drive shooting incidents which took place early in the morning of Monday, 11 October (see details here). He was initially arrested by police on Wednesday, 13 October in relation to these shooting incidents.


The same West Bay man was also charged with several drug related offences contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act (2017 Revision), which includes two count of Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply, Possession of Utensils used in the Consumption of Ganja, Possession of Ganja and Consumption of Ganja. These charges were following an investigation that began on 17 July, 2021.


The man appeared in court earlier today, 15 October, where he was remanded in custody, and is scheduled to make a further appearance on Thursday, 21 October, 2021.
