Police can now confirm that the motorcyclist involved in the collision that took place just after 6:20AM today, 25 April, a 28-year-old-man of George Town, has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor at the Cayman Islands Hospital. The RCIPS offers sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
A 53-year-old-man of George Town was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, and is currently in custody.
This fatal collision is being investigated by the police and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254 or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Initial Press Release: 25 April
Just after 6:20AM today, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.
The incident took place at the junction of Walkers Road and Memorial Avenue in George Town and officers are currently carrying out investigations at the scene of the collision. As such, the road roadway at Walkers road and Memorial Avenue has been closed and traffic is being diverted to South Church Street through Boiler's Road and Melmac Avenue, respectively.
Motorists are being asked to avoid this area and to expect delays. The RCIPS apologises for any inconveniences caused.
