The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Welfare Committee’s Chairman, Sergeant Cornelius Pompey, represented the Cayman Islands at the Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Association Conference (CPFWA), which was held in Long Bush, Tortola, British Virgin Islands between 20 and 22 May, 2025.
PS Pompey, who formally served as a Trustee, was elected as the First Vice President of the CPFWA, a regional organisation dedicated to promoting the welfare and well-being of police officers within their jurisdiction as well as collectively. The committee supports wellness in various ways, such as scholarships and well-being conferences.
PS Pompey states, “I am eternally grateful for the trust and confidence the Caribbean Police organisations around the region have placed in me for electing me as their 1st Vice President. I am committed to what I do, and I do it with a passion to serve our policing communities.”
Of note, the RCIPS Welfare Committee held a seminar with the Breast Cancer Foundation earlier this year to educate staff on the disease and combat myths and unrealistic beliefs. Additionally, they provide support to the organisation with events and issues that benefit the staff, such as Police Week 2024 and any staff appreciation activities.
Other representatives in the region that have been selected as board are Chairman Sergeant Sean McCall of the British Virgin Islands– second term, Second Vice President Natalie John of Trinidad and Tobago, Treasurer Shanea De Coteau of Greneda, Assistant Treasurer Ann Joseph of St. Lucia, Public Relations Officer Tricia Durrant Charles of Trinidad and Tobago, Protocol Officer Ovando Kemp of Bahamas and Trustee Daniel Prescott of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The RCIPS would like to congratulate PS Pompey on this accomplishment, along with all the other members of the board for the CPFWA.
