Yesterday evening, 16 May, shortly after 4:20PM, officers responded to a report of a traffic collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Savannah Primary School, involving five vehicles which were travelling in the eastbound lane: A white Nissan Caravan, red Chevrolet Cruze, grey Honda Civic, black Toyota Mark X, and burgundy Mitsubishi Pajero. The first car in the procession, the Pajero, slowed in order to make a turn, and the car to the rear, the Caravan, collided with the car in front of it, causing a chain reaction in which all five vehicles were hit.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital and treated for minor aches and pains. The occupants of the other vehicles declined medical attention.
The lane was blocked for a little over an hour and officers on scene directed traffic until the roadway was reopened.
