Just after 8:30PM last night, 21 February, police and other emergency services were dispatched to Shedden Road by the 9-1-1 Communication Center, where it was reported that shots were fired at a location resulting in one man being injured.
The RCIPS is advising the public to anticipate traffic delays while travelling in the Lower Valley area tomorrow, 26 February, during the annual Agriculture Show which begins at 7:30AM. Motorists are advised to budget extra time for travel in the area, especially during the morning hours.
Just after 12:30AM today, Saturday 22 February police received a report of an incident that took place at a liquor license establishment on West Bay Road. It was reported that a public figure in the Cayman Islands had assaulted a female at the location and she had received minor injuries.
Just after 8PM on Saturday 22 February, police and other emergency services were dispatched to Market Street, where it was reported that a juvenile male received a stab wound to the leg following an altercation.
Shortly before 4:00PM on Monday, 17 February, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Bodden Town Road. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the Cayman Islands hospital, and subsequently transferred to Health City Cayman Islands.
Just after 8:30AM yesterday, 20 February, police had cause to stop a blue Honda Civic that was travelling along Eastern Avenue in George Town. Using emergency lights and sirens, the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for the police.
Police responded to a report of a robbery shortly before 2:30AM on Saturday morning, 8 February. A man was robbed by two males who then fled the scene in a vehicle. The man was uninjured. A 17-year-old male has now been arrested in relation to the incident.
On Friday, 14 February, RCIPS officers, with the assistance of officers from the Department of Agriculture, conducted searches at three locations in the district of West Bay, under the Misuse of Drugs Law. As a result, three persons were arrested on suspicion of drug offenses, and a quantity of cash seized.
The RCIPS is aware of a hoax message being circulated via WhatsApp which claims that persons are posing as officials from the “Department of Home Affairs” in order to gain access to homes and commit robberies. The RCIPS has received no reports of any such incidents. The same message was circulated via WhatsApp in October 2019.
