On Saturday, 3 January, 2026 at approximately 4:05PM, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard Operations and Rescue Coordination Centre (ORCC) received a report of a person who had failed to resurface, having entered the water in the vicinity of “Big Channel” near to Barkers Key. A man was recovered, and later pronounced dead.
