Shortly before 5:30PM on Tuesday, 4 January, officers responded to a report of an assault incident at an address on Shedden Road, George Town. It was reported that two men were at the location when an altercation developed between them and one of the men struck the other with a beer bottle, causing multiple wounds to his arm.
Karen Vanessa Osegura and her daughter, who were reported missing yesterday, Thursday, 30 December, have been located and both appear to be in good health. The RCIPS thanks the public for their assistance in this matter.
Shortly after midnight this morning, 28 December, police responded to a report of a male in possession of a firearm in the vicinity of 211 Shedden Road.
The 23 Police Constable trainees of the current RCIPS Recruit Class, who were officially sworn-in on 22 November, are joining the wider police service this holiday season, in order to increase police visibility, boost resources for operation Winter Guardian and provide invaluable experience to the members of the class.
On Monday evening, 13 December, police received a report of an armed robbery which had taken place early that morning, around 05.50am, in the vicinity of Sheddon Road & Eastern Avenue, George Town.
Police can now confirm the identity of the man found deceased at a residential address off Omega Drive, George Town, on Tuesday, 7 December. He is John Michael Eden Chacon, 26 years old, of George Town.
At about 6:40AM today, 7 December, police responded to a report of a man found unresponsive at an address on Omega Drive in George Town. Emergency Services attended the location and the man was subsequently pronounced dead. The matter is under investigation, however the death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
RCIPS’ holiday safety operation, Winter Guardian, commences today, 1 December, and will see increased community foot patrols and intensified road enforcement operations, supported by road safety education and awareness campaigns. The operation continues throughout the holiday season and into the New Year.
On Sunday 17 October, the RCIPS participated in the funeral service of the late former Inspector of Police Mr. William Hortor Rankine, who passed away on Monday 11 October. Mr. William Hortor Rankine served with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service for 26 years, from 1970 to 1996.
