In anticipation of the upcoming Easter holidays, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is reminding the public of some safety steps that can be taken to protect themselves and their property over this long weekend, whether you will be camping away from home or enjoying other festivities during the period.
Earlier the afternoon of Tuesday, 30 March, an officer was assaulted while transporting a woman to the Cayman Islands Hospital.
On Saturday morning, 27 March, officers responded to a report that members of the public had located a package containing suspected drugs on the shore off Shamrock Road, some distance west of Spott's Dock.
At about 10:00PM on Sunday, 14 March, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on Ashgo Street in George Town. Whilst investigating, officers approached two men and a juvenile. One of the men violently resisted arrest and assaulted the officers, who deployed OC spray and were able to carry out the arrest.
Just before 11 PM on Saturday 27 February, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a woman walking on the Esterly Tibbetts Highway. The woman was said to have appeared under the influence of drug and was said to have been throwing rocks at vehicles traversing the highway.
Three men, aged 35, 23 and 21, of George Town, were arrested in relation to drug related offences and a fourth man age 34, also of George Town was arrested on in relation to violation against his conditional release from HMP. All four arrests took place on McField Lane in George Town.
The RCIPS is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 41-year-old Henry York Carter who is wanted by the police for breaking the terms of his conditional release.
On, 10 February, wanted man Mitchum Kenjo Wood was located and arrested by police officers in the North Side area. He is now in police custody. Otis Melbourne Myles remains at large (see below) and the RCIPS continues to seek the public’s assistance in locating him.
The RCIPS is aware that there may be increased activities over the weekend, particularly this coming Sunday, and as such, we are reminding the drivers to practice safe driving habits while enjoying the festivities.
