For a better experience on RCIPS, UPDATE YOUR BROWSER. Over this past weekend, from 24 September through 26 September, officers responded to 25 motor vehicle collisions on Cayman’s roads. As such, the RCIPS is taking this opportunity to remind the public about the importance of always practicing safe driving behaviours.
Police can now confirm the identity of the victim in the fatal collision on Friday, 24 September in West Bay (see below). He is 33-year-old Jessus Burowise Ebanks, of West Bay.
Just after 4am today 25 September, police and other emergency services were dispatched to the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a single vehicle collision on West Bay Road in the vicinity of the Public Beach.
Shortly before 4:00AM today, 19 September, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on West End East Road in Cayman Brac.
A man, age 27 of West Bay, has been formally charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving and Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm, in relation to a fatal collision which occurred on 16 January, 2021, on West Bay Road.
As a precautionary measure, the RCIPS will now be requiring members of the public who will be attending our police stations and public facing offices to wear masks when entering and while inside our facilities.
The RCIPS has been conducting traffic operations targeting distracted drivers, particularly motorists who use mobile phones while driving. These targeted operations have resulted in a total of 80 tickets being issued for use of a mobile phone while driving, since 11 August.
Police are currently on the scene of a single vehicle collision on Old Robin Road North Side, where a light pole was struck and fell in the roadway.
With schools now in session, and an increased number of children utilising the roadways, the RCIPS will be conducting traffic operations targeting motorists using their mobile phones while driving. Last week, officers issued just under 20 tickets to persons using their mobile phones whilst driving.
Shortly after 8:00PM yesterday, 31 August, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Shedden Road involving a pedestrian. It was reported that the pedestrian was crossing the road near the Edward Street intersection, when she was struck by a vehicle described as a reddish SUV, which was travelling west.
