Three persons have been formally charged by the police in relation to recent burglary incidents.
RCIPS are aware of an attempt to defraud previous victims of a number of Ponzi schemes (e.g.: Astute Capital, Dolphin Trust and ROFX) through a letter claiming to be from Commissioner of Police, Mr. Derek Byrne, and a company named FFF Global.
Police responded to the Cayman Islands Hospital where a man attended, seeking treatment for what appears to be a gunshot wound to the foot.
The RCIPS continue to see a trend of burglaries and theft related incidents where construction tools and materials have been stolen, both from job sites and homes.
Shortly after 12:00PM on Wednesday, 19 April, officers responded to a report that a man had been brought to hospital with serious stab wounds to his face, arms and back. Officers responded and conducted inquiries, which revealed that the man had been stabbed during a dispute with another man at the Seven Mile Public Beach.
A man, age 26 of George Town, was arrested on Tuesday, 18 April, and has been formally charged with Possession of an Imitation Firearm with Intent to Cause Harassment, Alarm or Distress, in relation to an incident on 9 March at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Shedden Road.
Police have arrested 26-year-old Malik Joseph McDonald, who was recently circulated as wanted in relation to firearms offences. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Today, Friday 14 April, the RCIPS released its 2022 Crime and Traffic Statistics Report, and members of the Senior Command Team held a press conference to discuss the main developments and trends described in the statistics with the media.
Over this past weekend, 7-10 April, the RCIPS conducted its yearly Easter operations across the island. During this time there were no major incidents of violent crime and no major traffic collisions. There were also no reports of trespass or theft related to persons camping over the weekend.
