Over this past weekend, 7-10 April, the RCIPS conducted its yearly Easter operations across the island. During this time there were no major incidents of violent crime and no major traffic collisions. There were also no reports of trespass or theft related to persons camping over the weekend.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and common assault following an incident on Seven Mile Public Beach where he is reported to have used pepper spray on a member of the public. The man was further arrested and charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition) following a search.

At about 12:00PM yesterday, 4 February, officers responded to a report that a man had been found unresponsive in a boat in the waters near the Kimpton resort in West Bay. The man was brought back to shore by a private vessel and later pronounced dead.
During the month of December, 2022, the RCIPS conducted operation Winter Guardian to provide support for the social and economic changes that come with the holiday period annually.
As New Year’s Eve approaches, the RCIPS would like to remind the public that Operation Winter Guardian continues and the public can expect to see amplified police presence over the holiday weekend. Officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols at events and areas with large gatherings.
RCIPS’ holiday safety operation, Winter Guardian, commenced on Thursday, 1 December, and sees increased community foot patrols, high visibility mobile patrols and intensified road enforcement operations, supported by road safety education and awareness campaigns.
Police are investigating a number of incidents of thefts from vehicles in recent weeks, and have arrested persons in connection with two such incidents. Police are issuing a reminder to the public about preventing such thefts, and advise against purchasing goods which may be stolen.
Four men have been charged with Being Concerned with the Importation of Ganja, following an incident where a boat with drugs was intercepted by the Coast Guard off West Bay.
