Two More Firearms & Ammunition Handed in Over Weekend, 30 July

As the RCIPS continues in its efforts to encourage persons to relinquish their unlicensed firearms, two more firearms were handed in this past weekend. A pistol and a rifle along with an amount of ammunition were handed into police via a trusted third party, as part of the 2024 RCIPS Gun Amnesty campaign.

UPDATE: American Nationals Convicted & Sentenced for Fraudulent Credit Card Purchases, 22 July

The three men, American nationals ages 32, 32, and 33, who were arrested on Tuesday, 19 March, after making suspected fraudulent credit card purchases, have been formally charged with three counts each of Obtaining Property by Deception, for several purchases totaling over $50,000CI in value.

The RCIPS is launching a National Gun Amnesty, working with key partners and stakeholders who are taking a stand against illegal guns in our community. The Amnesty will run between 1 and 31 July, 2024, and will allow persons who possess illegal guns, ammunition and any other illegal weapons, to hand them over to the police.

Shortly after 4:00AM today, 19 June, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a restaurant on Eastern Avenue, south of the intersection with Godfrey Nixon Way. It was reported that a masked man entered the restaurant carrying a machete and stole money from the cash register.

Shortly before 10:00PM on Tuesday, 5 June, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a bar on Shedden Road near Main Street. It was reported that a masked man with a machete had robbed another man of cash, then ran through the outdoor area of a nearby bar and took personal items belonging to patrons there.
