The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is investigating an ongoing phishing scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from RCIPS regarding overdue traffic fines.

The Police are advising the public of a new wave of the ongoing Google Meet call scams involving suspects contacting the public and claiming to be members of local law enforcement, requesting personal and financial details, as well as a new wave of the Post Office Parcel SMS Scam.

The RCIPS and Cayman Islands Government are urgently warning the public of text message scam which is circulating locally.

The police are investigating reports of a suspected scam after a quantity of cash was stolen from an account held at a local financial institution.

The George Town Police Station will be relocating to 19 Eastern Avenue and will be fully operational at this new location on Monday morning 13 April, 2026.

Following further investigations, the Police can confirm that the text messages circulating regarding “dormant accounts” are legitimate communications sent by the financial institution to its members.

Subsequent to police investigations, one man has been arrested for deception offences related to immigration fraud, and another person has been identified and warned.

RCIPS Launches Operation Winter Guardian, providing safety advise to the public during the holiday season.

RCIPS is currently investigating reports involving fraudulent vehicle sale advertisements on Facebook and is encouraging anyone who has fallen victim to contact the police.

On Monday, 24 November, police received a report of a member of the public who had fallen victim to an online property rental scam, where they sent funds to a seller claiming to have a property available for rent. Prior to reporting the matter, about $5,400CI was sent by the victim. The matter is currently under investigation.
